I have a media center 7160 with window xp media center 2002

For some reasons the system restore does not work anymore to any of the
previous set points . I tried 30 restored points. However I can do some
system restore to certain points in safe mode only.

I contacted HP and they cannot help, I did Destructive recovery and register
cleanup and fix and it still does not work.
Even if I am on warrantee it seems I cannot solve this. HP suggested to do
another destructive recovery using old recovery CDs. But before I do this and
loose lots of informations. and time I wanted to know if anyone else had a
similar problem before and what was the solution

Hi Alan,

Let's take a look at Event Viewer for any System Restore logs that may
have been created recently that may help us diagnosing the problem.

Go to Start - Run and type eventvwr.msc and press enter.
Click on System in the left pane.
Click the gray title "Source" at the top of the source name column in
the right pane to sort by source name, look for "sr" and "srservice".
Double click on each of these events, then click on the button below the
two arrows in the upper right corner. This will copy the event
information to the clipboard. Paste the information for each of the two
event here. There's no need to post duplicate Event ID's.
