Hello,

A friend has had the error message "synchronization could not be
completed" - support code 80070008.

He finds that by pressing a paper clip into the hole on the right hand
side of the Vario this allows synchronization to take place. This is a
hard reset? He loses all info.

When I was round at his place some months ago I got the
synchronization to work but according to my notes I used a "soft
reset" by using "a button on the right hand side, 1 up from the
bottom".

Is there a soft reset button either on the Vario itself or in the MS
Active Sync package?

Thanks

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

In most cases a soft reset resolves the 8007008 error message. Could you
confirm the PPC model name and number you mention? You would definitely
find instructions in the user manual to perform a soft reset if its a
windows based mobile device. And there is no option within ActiveSync to do
the same.

Thanks for your reply Raj. I will get back with the model name and
number but can you confirm that pressing in the hole on the right hand
side of the Vario will cause a "hard" reset?

How does he make a "soft" reset?

Cheers

Geoff

Hi Geoff,

Assuming you are referring to a HTC Wizard, then pressing the hole on the
right hand side of the device should perform only a soft reset. For more
information refer - http://www.htcwizardweb.net/node/116. I don't have a
model of this kind at the moment so unable to confirm the steps and
therefore would suggest referring to the user manual or wait for a
confirmation from another user.

If the device is performing a hard reset inspite of following the soft reset
procedure, then it might be a possible hardware issue.
