 Is there a way to keep the LCD screen of the laptop OFF, while the
laptop is still working. I want to have this behaviour, when I am
listening to music from laptop when I am travelling and want to
conserve energy.

Also, I would like to know if there are any Operating systems which I
can load onto my PC, which can use minimum energy to just play music
on my PC?

 Go into your Power Options and set the monitor to go off after a very short
period ( 5 minutes, for example)

Anyway to switch-off using a hot-key? Or someway to configure a hot-

Compaq Evo N610c turns off LCD when you just close the lid.
