What's an excellent app for imaging my hard disk and restoring it without
having to reinstall the OS and everything if the s*** hits the fan and the
system won't even boot?
I tried Acronis TrueImage, but I guess it doesn't work with Media Center
Edition because it'd never create the Secure Zone.
Suggestions based on your personal experiences, please?
Thanks.

Dear A,
A few weeks ago, I bought a package that included Norton Ghost and Norton
Internet Security. It was the beginning of a nightmare. Since then, my X-Box
stopped talking to my Computer, Windows stopped talking to my DVD-RAM drive,
Sytem Restore reboots with the cheerful message that the "Restoration Cannot
be Completed", and my wife has gone to stay at her sister's.
I have a Toshiba Qosmio MCE Laptop, and like you, I am rather tired of
having to re-install the whole operating system from the manufacturers old
disks, and having to go through the gruelling task of updating Windows,
Office, etc and resetting all the Personalized Settings. As I write this I am
waiting for the last twenty of sixty-eight "critical" Windows updates from
Microsoft. I haven't even begun my dear old Office 2000 updates. I have done
the whole lot twice in the last week, with a 56k dail-up connection.
The Ghost story... I can do a brilliant robust back-up of my entire C Drive
onto the Desktop of my C Drive in 34 minutes. A lovely Ghost image file of 8
GBytes. As useful as t*ts on a bull. Even though the makers of Ghost claim
that the product will create a backup image spanning over as many DVDs as
needed, I have had absolutely no luck. Symantec have refused to respond to my
email, and the telephone support on the Ghost line, can do little more than
offer their apologies, while at the same time thanking me for calling
Symantec and wishing me a nice day.
A salesman actually warned me off purchasing a Maxtor OneTouch, which I was
hoping would be a quick and easy solution to my problem.
I'm at my wits end, so let me and everyone else know if you find a way.
Regards

Please log in for more thread options I'm a big fan of TrueImage. Why wouldn't it create the secure zone on MCE?

Please log in for more thread options I use True Image 8.0 and it works great for me.
I store the image on another hard drive.
No problem creating image or restoreing it.
