Threaded View
revers PFW not working with Win7 revers to Port 5900.

On linux machine:
gerlach@rex4:~> telnet localhost 2230
Connected to localhost.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.

The message "Connection closed by foreign host." appears immediately.

On Win7-machine there is a VNC-Server installed and a revers/ remote
tunnel is started with putty: -R *:2230:localhost:5900  (with or without
the *). On WinXP machine it works fine. But not with Win7. Firewall ist
completely off. Why?

The VNC-Server is working fine, here connected directly in LAN:
gerlach@rex4:~> telnet 5900
Connected to
Escape character is '^]'.
RFB 003.008

BTW: In this posting I'm using telnet to show You the result/ fault. My
aim is to start a VNC-Viewer on my linux machine to support a Win7
desktop. The support to WinXP desktop with such a configuration works
fine with many WinXP-PCs the last years. Suport by RDP is too
complicated because of trouble with initations.

BTW2: revers Portforwarding to port 3389 (RDP) for remote sessions
works. But I want to mount the desktop for User help affairs, not for
remote sessions.

Re: Win7, putty: revers/remote forwarding to port 5900 (VNC)

solved: my tightvnc -server is installed with disabled connection from
localhost. The revers PFW appears like a connection from localhost ... ;-)
