SSH through inetd

I have ssh loaded on an AIX box 5.1. It works as a stand alone which is
stared by rc at boot,  but I have been unable to have it function through
ssh is defined in services and I defined it in inetd as "ssh stream tcp6
nowait root /usr/sbin/sshd sshd"

I shut down the process that was started by the rc at boot time, and
refreshed the inetd process.
the error log says " Bind toport 22 on failed: the socket name is
already in use.:

I put a sshx definition in services and inetd.conf and got the same results

Other than speed, is there a problem running SSH through inetd?

Thanks for your ideas.

Does sshd know it's been called by inetd rather than rc stuff ?
Does the sshd man page mention inetd ?

Try adding the "-i" flag to sshd.  From the sshd man page:
-i      Specifies that sshd is being run from inetd. [...]
