ssh - loosing group memberships / permission denied

Do you have a question? Post it now! No Registration Necessary.  Now with pictures!

Strange problem I've spend the last 3 days trying to figure out.

New install of cygwin on my work computer running sshd.  I've
configured it with mkpasswd, mkgroup,ssh-host-config....;

mkpasswd -l -d > /etc/passwd

mkgroup -l -d > /etc/group

ssh-host-config  (yes,yes,yes,ntsec tty)

  Problem is, I can log into the box just fine, but when I type ' id '
before I log in, I have a whole bunch of groups that I'm a part of.
however, if after I log in using ssh, I type ' id ' again, and about
half my groups are gone.

The reason I found this, and posting it here, is because I'm trying to
debug a problem where I can access all my network folders when I'm not
ssh'ed in, but as soon as I ssh in, I loose access to a large chunk of
folders... kind of like I'm loosing my permissions...    incidentally,
when I type ' ls ' in a folder I should have access to, I get
'permission denied'.

Please help!!!
