Threaded View
From last week, the ssh login to one of our linux server becomes very slow.

When I use "ssh -v username" to login in, it stalls in the message:

debug1: SSH2_MSG_NEWKEYS received
debug1: SSH2_MSG_SERVICE_ACCEPT received

for more than 1 minutes, then continue with

debug1: Authentications that can continue:
debug1: Next authentication method: publickey
debug1: Trying private key: /home/user/.ssh/identity
debug1: Offering public key: /home/user/.ssh/id_rsa
debug1: Server accepts key: pkalg ssh-rsa blen 149
debug1: read PEM private key done: type RSA
debug1: Authentication succeeded (publickey).
debug1: channel 0: new [client-session]
debug1: Entering interactive session.
debug1: Requesting X11 forwarding with authentication spoofing.

I checked the /etc/resolv.conf file, all DNS server is working well.

This server itself is a NIS client.

In /etc/nsswitch.conf

hosts:          files dns nis
networks:       files

Is there any idea for this?
And how to solve it?
Thanks very much!

In particular, check the forward *and reverse* lookups for both the
client and server IPs.
