I think you've misunderstood what the Default Settings pseudo-session
is. It sounds like you understand it to mean `set settings to
default'. In fact it's a `session' to which you can save settings
such as protocol, port and terminal colours to affect how PuTTY
appears when you just type a host name into the host name box and hit
Create a Windows shortcut to "putty -load mysessionname". When you
launch that shortcut, PuTTY will start that saved session directly
rather than going via the config box.
