I started my PC as normal and, "Putty" is there! I didn't 'down-load
it! It just appeared.

I've searched my hard drive and can't locate where it resides and I
haven't found a convienient "remove" link.

Can someone direct me in removing Putty from my PC?

Thank you,

Since your email address is bouncing for me, I will paraphrase the
messages I attempted to send you:

To find out what it is:
(although since you've found this newsgroup, I guess you've read enough
to know what it is)

Perhaps you should ask any other people who use your computer how it got
there. (If no-one else uses your computer, I have no idea how it got

You could check in "Add/Remove Programs" to see if it's listed there,
but it won't necessarily be. If it is, you should be able to uninstall
it from there.

PuTTY is usually called "putty.exe", so you could search your hard
drive for that.

You told us in your email that it is running at startup. That's an
unusual configuration; are you sure it's PuTTY and not a related utility
such as Pageant?

You could look in the Startup group of your Start Menu; it might be in
there to cause it to run at startup. Failing that, AutoRuns from
sysinternals.com should be able to find where it's being invoked.
