norton internet security blocks Putty connection

When I log onto PUtty with NIS enabled, I cannot connect to the server.  If
I disable it, I can.  Have tried doing manual settings under NIS  by setting
the 'allow all' rule for Putty but no luck.
has anyone been able to correct this?

I've successfully connected to SSH servers through a NIS firewall with
PuTTY. If you just want to allow connections to normal SSH servers, a
rule for TCP port 22 (all hosts) should suffice.

(In fact IIRC the version of NIS I was using (2003?) actually had an
autoconfiguration rule for PuTTY.)
