Global defaults in PuTTY?

Howdy -

I *think* I have RTFM fully, but I still can't find something.

I want to set some global defaults for PuTTY - things like:

- setting the foreground color to black and the background to white
- I prefer all of my sessions to use 10 second null packet keepalives

Is there a way to configure PuTTY so that every session I start has
these settings?  As far as I can tell, you can only set them on a
session-by-session basis.

Take a look at Section 4.1.2: Loading and storing saved sessions in

Changes in the default settings affect any sessions you create from
that point on, but it will not update existing sessions.

As it says in TFM, "Each saved session is independent of the Default
Settings configuration. If you change your preferences and update
Default Settings, you must also update every saved session

OK, I'm a dope.  I read that but I didn't "get it."  When I went to the
other categories (Colours and Connection, for instance), all I saw at the
bottom was the "Open" and "Cancel" buttons.  For some reason I was looking
for a "Save" button.  I didn't realize I had to go back to the Session
category to save it.

Thanks for steering me right.
