Configuring Putty for Tab Completion

I'm trying to configure Putty for tab completion.  The server is AIX 4.3.

I've looked at the documentation on Putty, especially "The Keyboard Panel"
but can't find anything about the "Esc" key, which is functioning as my
'tab' key.  (If I could figure out how to use the 'tab' key instead of 'Esc'
for tab completion, that'd be great...)

When I press "Esc," tab completion works, but the display is wrong.  For
example, let's say the directory is "fusion".  When I type "cd fu" and then
hit the "Esc" key, "cd fu" becomes "cd ion" in the display.

Any idea how I could remedy the problem?

I will say that I know that tab completion works on a Solaris server based
on experience.

That's because the ESC key is almost the simplest key on the keyboard
as far as PuTTY is concerned!  If you're having problems with it, you
almost certainly need to focus your investigations on the AIX side.
