I am having problem getting openssl compiled on solaris 9. I need it
to have pine compled with SSl option. When i do the config it creates
a make file for me. It looks like the makefile needs a tweak some
where. Can any one point me what CFLAGS I shoud use exactly. I see two
one commented out as follows When I did the config again it worked
this time and created me a new makefile.ssl which woked.

#CFLAG= -DL_ENDIAN -DTERMIO -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer -m486 -Wall
-Wuninitialized -DSHA1_ASM -DMD5_ASM -DRMD160_ASM

guess the above was meant for x86 compilation

32 -mcpu=ultrasparc -O3 -fomit-frame-pointer -Wall -DB_ENDIAN

This one intended for sparc had different CFLAG with -Xa option and
started kicking me out giving -Xa unrecognized option when I compile
with gcc.

type gcc
gcc is /opt/file-share/devtools-solaris/gcc-3.2.2/bin/gcc

I exactly used the same config option from my .bash_history and I dont
understand why it would create it with a different options right now
whcih works fine.

B T W what does DL_ENDIAN and DB_ENDIAN does?

Thanks a bunch,

I assume you ran ./config. You should read "Installation in detail", 1b
in INSTALL file.

./Configure solaris-sparcv9-gcc should do the trick.

I have not been able to think of any way of describing Perl to [person]
"Hello, blind man?  This is color."                                     -- DPM
