well, I used to be a computer tech in the late eighties, so are you telling
me its possilble?

If the chip is pinout compatible and if you know how to and have the tools
to unsolder and resolder a BGA then you can replace the chip--if it needs
BIOS support then you would need to come up with an appropriate BIOS hack.

Did they have SMT in the late eighties? I don't remember seeing them.
