Hi there,

Recently I just got a new win2003 server. I installed some programs e.g.
Adobe into the server. As a administrator, I am able to run the programs.
However, if I use a normal user account, I cant run the programs properly.
For e.g. the file folder cannot identify PDF files even I installed Adobe. I
cant run Netrust using normal user acct. If I run 3rd party software, they
will just crush or get corrupted. But if I use administrator, they all run
fine.

I assigned a user administrator right and install a 3rd party software. Then
I remove the administrator right . I got the same problem. I suspect some
setting in the server is blocking or disallow others to use installed
software.

Can anyone help me please.

Thank You

I would logon as a regular user and then use runas with administrator
credentials to use filemon and regmon [free from SysInternals] to see where
access is being denied and then make the permissions adjustment you need and
try again. Start filemon with runas just before you try to use the
application and close it as soon as it fails and look in the log for access
denied entries to a folder/file path or registry path. This often works but
some software simply will not work as a regular user due to the way it was
written [poorly]. You also may want to contact the publisher to see if they
can help. --- Steve
