I'm having trouble getting my mobile device to sync with my exchange server,
both connected to the ActiveSync docking station and over the internet.
The mobile device can sync just fine with my desktop computer, it can also
view html content on the exchange server including the OMA HTTP pages.
My server is running SBS 2003 SP1 + ISA 2004 + CA.
My desktop is running WinXP sp2 w/ Active sync 4.1.
My mobile device is a T-mobile SDA w/ Windows Mobile 5.0.
My servers internal name (let's call it "INTERNAL") is different from the
external name ("EXTERNAL").
My mobile device has the self issued root certificate for my CA installed
and is able to connect to the WLAN using 802.1x.
My mobile device also has the publishing.mydomain.com certificate that a
combination of ISA and ECICEW create for secure access to my exhange https
sites.
When I visit http://EXTERNAL.mydoamin.com I am prompted with a warning
because the SSL certificate was issued to publishing.mydomain.com and not
EXTERNAL.mydomain.com. Even though when I run the ECICEW I entered
EXTERNAL.mydomain.com as the full internet domain name to generate a
certificate.
When I configure Activesync to connect to EXTERNAL.mydomain.com I am first
prompted that -No Exchange Server was detected, press continue to sync with
the server anyway.- (If i direct my web browser to
https://EXTERNAL.mydomain.com/exchange/ everything works fine.)
After pressing continue, and attempting to sync for the first time I receive
an error that -You have an incorrect certificate common name in the host
name field. ..... Make sure that the server name is entered correctly.
Support Code:80072f06
My guess would be that I'm having this problem because the SSL certificate
is generated for publishing.mydomain.com and not EXTERNAL.mydomain.com
Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all,
John.
