Thanks guys, that confirms it for me. I've struck up a deal for some rock
steady web space in return for some web work (yes i'm that skint i cant
afford £9 a month for hosting!) so I should be migrating soon. Anyone have
any ideas how to back up and migrate a simple machines forum and can i do it
via ftp?

I can't see the site, but something is badly wrong; either your site, or
your host. Or both.

Try dreamhost.com for half the price you quoted.

There's no point having a website if we cannot reach it; you'll never cover
your costs, let alone make a profit.
