Hi I have got a samsung blackjact, I can not find a way of giving a new
appointment a category.

I previously had a palm treo with the full version of pocket pc, which was
easy.

thanks tim

Hard to believe but Windows Mobile Standard doesn't let you assign or see
categories (even if they are synchronized). If you need this feature, you
need to use 3rd party Calendar replacements.

Nor do they have a search feature. I cannot even search a client's
name to find out if I've worked with him before, and I really could
use categories in my address book, preferably multiple categories per
item to cull out mailing lists.

Cutting, pasting, searching, and rescheduling are all critical
features for me. I had heard that Windows devices were excellent at
cutting and pasting new appointments. They must have omitted that
with their new devices. Palm seems to be fading and it's scaring me.

It's true that you can't do this in smartphone (Windows Mobile
Standard). You can assign a category to an appointment in PPC (Windows
Mobile Pro.) You can't filter by category (or otherwise affect the
display) in either platform. This is something under consideration for
future versions, and I'll note the feedback.
