Whenever I try to view pdf files in the preview pane it always gives me a
security prompt, which is very annoying, first i have to click on it and
then tell it to let the active content, then it prompts me with an are you
sure prompt,. then after viewing the pdf file, i have to go through the
same damn drawn out procedure to view another pdf file. also when i view a
pdf file, then view let's say a txt file, then try to view another pdf file
the application crashes because acrobat has closed.
I have tried numberous workarounds for this problem, which involve changing
the security settings of internet explorer to allow active content, but to no
avail, i then tried enabling the "my computer" security zone through the
registry HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet
Settings\Zones\Flags and modifying that but to no avail.
does anyone have any educated ideas???

I don't have a fix, but want to chime in that MS seems to
not appreciate the special status of .pdf content. I, for one,
really appreciated the emergence of desktop search because
I wanted to index my local pdf files. I suspect many others
find this to be a compelling application. But, will we have
to wait for Adobe to really "get it right"?

Hi Alan, thanks for your post, i actually found out the answer, upgrade to
acrobat reader 7 and that solves the problem, luckily for me acrobat reader 7
doesn't uninstall acrobat professional 6 so i can use both, lucky me. it's
working perfectly for me now anyway. Also adobe have a plug in for windows
desktop search that it index the contents of pdf files.
