i have successfully set up my sky plus box to my media centre.
Everything ok. However, i want to be able to watch one channel and
record another, so i have tried to link my old blue sky box (with a sky
freeview card) into the second tv card. It doesnt have s-video (i have
my existing sky plus link through s-video) but i have tried to link it
through composite video and a scart socket. I simly cannot get any
picture. even when i tried to link the existing sky plus s-video to the
second input i could not get a tv picture which makes me worried that
either there isn't a secoind tv card or it isnt working. the only
thing i can think of is that i need a second sky plus box.

any suggestions you guys??

paul

Did you go back through setup and tell it that you now have two tuners? =
Additionally, if the channel lineups aren't the same for the two boxes, =
you'll run into problems, because the Guide can only have one set of =
listings.

What TV card(s) do you have? If you already have two functioning cards but have
only had one connected to your Sky+ box then during TV Setup you must have
specified to only use the one. In which case you need to run through the TV
Setup again. You will need a second IR bug to control the second box.

Even if you get it working you will encounter a fundamental problem with MCE. It
can only use one program guide so the channel offering on both tuners must be
identical. So you would be OK with two FTV boxes or two subscription boxes but
with one of each you will have random occasions when MCE will change to a
subscription channel but on the FTV box. There are registry edits that can be
done to prefer one tune rather than the other but it's not a totally foolproof
solution.
