have a 301 redirect for the .com pointing to the .ca. Google correctly
index and spiders the .ca website even after visiting the .com website.
Yahoo on the other hand spiders only my root page and then indexes it as
a .com page. Yahoo is obviously correctly recognizing the redirect
since it is able to pull the content from the .ca website but why is it
indexing it as the .com website and not the .ca?
Here is what's in my .htaccess file if it's any help. I've changed the
name so I'm not spamming.
RewriteCond % !^www\.website\.ca
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.website.ca /$1 [R=301,L]
Re: Yahoo and 301 redirects.
faq.com>, email@example.com says...
Yes and No. If someone puts in just the www domain name, then they will
be redirected to the proper website with either method. However, if
someone uses a directory or specifys a file name, your redirect will
just simply redirect them to the root whereas my redirect will redirect
them to the correct sibdirectory or file.
