www.whitehouse.gov blocks all but one reference to "global warming"
and the one it does not block is in a memo that denies a human cause.

This has been going on since at least March 2003, according to this
search tabulation by Brainstorms:

but I just discovered it and identified it as possible censorship on
January 19, 2007.

The word is getting around.  I think the most high profile posting so
far on it is at realclimate:

You can see the scope of it for yourself, by comparing advanced google
searches with the domain limited to www.whitehouse.gov

I am interested in the technical aspects of this.  How is it being
done?   Is it a bug or deliberate?  I want to get some technical
experts on search into the hunt.

It is not apparent here:

The search index is up to date.   You get a hit on "addiction to oil"
but not on "global warming" in Tony Snow's January 18, 2007 press

The Office of the White House is exempt from the Freedom of
Information Act, so it is probably not possible to get the code or
internal configuration files.  But Congree has oversight rights, so
ask your congressional representatives to investigate the matter.
