Hi, I want to change my blog account from http://amishamerica.typepad.com /
to a new address   http://amishamerica.org/ blog or really
I want to do this because I am creating a new site about the amish and
want to get rid of the whole typepad thing as it does not give me full
control over my site.   What is the best way to transfer the PR and or
links and traffic from my old domain to my new one? I am really
worried that I will lose something. But even so I am only a PR3 now
and I think that in a year or so with a site and blog I can get back
to that level or better.  Do I do a 301 redirect? write people to
change links?  What happens when I cancel my typepad account?

Do a 301 if you can.
Write to people who link to you.
The content probably disappears instantly - but ask them, to be sure.

I would say Andrew's advice is pretty good.  The key thing I think is
to write everyone who links to you, including DMOZ, to get the link
juice flowing to the right site.

You at first may have a small set back, but with a more focused url -
it might be offset rather fast.
