Spider hits

I was doing my annual webstats yesterday and realised that I get 100
hits/file/year from the Search Engine spiders (approximately). The shape of
the distribution I am not sure about. (Do some files get hit more often than
those lower down my hierarchy?)  I thought I should mention it cos it is
only with the new webstats I have been getting this information. About 25%
of my hits seem to be from spiders.

Yeah, if you don't hide your page it will be spidered...
What's your point again?

I was just pointing out the average annual number of hits I have been
getting from spiders, and wondering about other people's experience.

Hi Douglas,

My site gets about .25% of hits from search engine spiders. The thing about
webstats is that they don't actually give you an accurate picture of what's
going on.

If you read this page, it'll give you a better idea of what webstats can
tell you and (perhaps more importantly) what the stats can't tell you:
