XML could be described as a data source. Without additional
transformation it would show raw data. See the example:
You could not navigate (no links) or add any images to XML if you would
like to do that you would need XSL stylesheet file which would describe
apperance of each element from XML file. But then it probably look as
typical HTML file ;-)
XML files are not good for most of the humans (except of crazy computer
scientist ;-) )but are the best for the machines. XML files (such as
presented simple google map) if would keep proper structure would be
easy readable for script.
Remember that any standard sitemap would be different (in HTML code) so
it is hard to read for machines (scripts).
Other example of XML common usage are RSS files. They are a kind of XML
files with fixed structure so each RSS reader could easily read them and
