I have a site that disappeared from Google's serps for no apparent
reason. It came as a complete surprise, since I hadn't made any
changes to the site that might be the cause of a problem.
The only thing that seems to be unusual in any way is that the site
shows backlinks but no related links.
I only discovered that there were no related links by accident, since
I never look at them. Once I did, I checked other sites and all seem
to have related links if they have backlinks.
Can anyone offer a guess about why a search for related links would
not show anything?
Re: related sites
Sorry, no one responded.
Hmm, this could mean a penality. :-( But, not necessarily) I don't know the
URL to have a look so I can not say.
This happens sometimes, when you have a low amount of backlinks.
Sometime they do and sometime they don't. It all deopends on the actual
backlinks a site has and how long the site has been in the index.
Re: related sites
No problem - related links are generally not an important
consideration! I never look at them (well...um...except for this
There were enough backlinks to keep it in the top 5 of the serp, where
it had been for a long time. What's baffling is that I didn't do
anything to it.
The site has been indexed for at least 2 years and still shows
backlinks - 34 in Google, 136 in Yahoo, and 265 in MSN. It is #1 in
the serp in Yahoo and MSN.
I can't imagine what it would have been penalized for, but I can't
think of any other reason for this strange occurrence.
I don't know if the missing related links are significant, but it
seems to be the only thing about the site that is in the least bit
unusual. I wondered if that was an indication of a penalty.
