I'm trying really hard here to make sure I don't get a bad rep for keyword
packing.  Although my text is totally legitimate, I ran a keyword density
checker on it and came out with the top keyword (the word that best
describes what we do/sell) at 6.15%.  Now I read that it's fine as long as
it's between 3 and 7%.  Very probably the lower end of that scale doesn't
make any difference, it's just if you go over the high end you can get

So what is the deal with keyword density?  Should I reduce it right down?  I
have a tendency to write stuff like "with the ACME Widget Smasher you can
smash 1,000 widgets per second....", rather than writing something like
"peak widget smashing through-put is around 1,000 per second".

Any advice?

It doesn't seem to be a problem. MSN, Yahoo, and ASK are the only ones
that really care about it. Trying to apply keyword density for Google
would be a useless task. Unless you are blatently stuffing your
keywords all over the place.
