Ran into a problem with transferring a domain.
I have a domain hosted with a small company I no longer use for
The domain is due for renewal on the 8th of August 2004 and I've been
planning to transfer it to Registerfly for ages.
I tried to transfer the domain today, but ran into a problem.
Got this email from the small hosting company-
"The domain name has already been renewed for one year through our
domain registrars (openSRS).
There is a cut-off time prior to the renewal date on .com domain
meaning that it could not have been released from OpenSRS without
renewed through them first anyway."
Is the second bit accurate about the cut off time?
I didn't authorise the renewal (they charge £23 a year!!), apparently
they assume you want the domain renewed, renew it early and send an

Yes. IIRC transfers can't be done within 30 days of expiration.
