Hi All,

Anybody ever checked if the order of keywords in url makes a difference?

Let's say I am optimizing site for blue widgets.

I can register domain blue-widgets. com and widgets-blue. com.

All other factors being equal - how large difference will it be
for SERPs?

I haven't tested it but lots of people say you want to list keywords
in order of importance.

True, you can ...

Depends, in my opinion, on other optimization touches you have in
place on the page. If you have gotten decent keyword density in the
content then you opt to go with the second domain name, then it could
be very low in what difference, if any, it will make for that SERP in
that regard.

In terms of anchor text, the second domain name will still have the
keywords - just not in the same order but if you do link exchanges
then you sometimes have a say in the anchor text used. But if
optimizing for the phrase blue widgets then the first domain name
works, even for any 3rd party anchor text thoughts - you know, the
folks who voluntarily link to a site they found and liked without
always letting you know they have, than the second one.

Domain name can help in conjunction with other optimizations touches.
I just don't think it will make or break a SERP if you went with the
second one or the first one - but the first one may be easier for
people to remember since the order is "logical" to what phrase they
would type in to search for?

Oh lord, I am rambling aren't I? Time for a fresh cup of coffee, I
