Hi there.
I have a free test site hosted on Brinkster (with a URL like:
www40.brinkster.com/My site).
If I'll by a domain name (lets say www.mysite.co.il). Will search
engines think it's a misleading address? Will I be punish for that?
Can I ask for incoming links 2 change their link 2 my site from the
lonng Brinkster URL 2 the new domain name I've purchased?

Search engines may list sites in free web space, particularly
if they have high ranking links pointing to them, but this
tends to be uncommon.

To be seen by search engines you really need a FQDN (Fully
Qualified Domain Name). Properly hosted the domain registation
will point to the hosting ISP's name server which resolves
the address.

Then, for a good ranking, you need quality inbound links, pages
with (preferably unique visible to the search engines) text and
patience. It's also worth putting the site in DMOZ, but be
warned it's very easy to get into DMOZ under an inappropriate
category, and almost impossible to get it corrected if it

Submit you site to the major search engines then check the
server logs to see if they are spidering you.

Put a "We have relocated our website to - click the link below"
Search engines seem to follow the link, and may dislike automatic
forwarding. Too many have tended to forward to adult related,
and unsuitable content sites, I found click to go to the new
site worked and the new FQDN site got to PR1 on Google,
AltaVista etc.

what he means to say, here, is don't submit to the engines at all,
instead get an inbound link from a site that is itself already indexed
and regularly spidered.

I'm noticing a site belonging to friends that is forwarded, oddly, via
a 302. Only the index page is indexed in Google. I'm wondering if none
of the other pages are indexed because it's forwarded by a 302 and not
a 301. Any ideas, here, team?
