Google Visits

Google visits to my website doesn't seem to follow any rational time
frame. The cached version of the page is nearly a month old, even if I
have updated and re-submitted the site to Google. There area also many
backlinks that Google hasn't picked up that other search engines have
found. Google seems to be really slipping...

I assume you are talking about your index page which has a PR below 5? If so
you need to try and get the PR up to 5. Other pages will then be indexed
about monthly.

That's Google.

That's the *normal* behavior.

Googlebot is erratic.  It wander the Internet like an inebriated mule.

In general, however, the more inbound links you have the more frequently
Googlebot will visit.

It *feels* to *me* like Google hasn't had an update in a long long long
time.  I mean an update where my link counts and PR are recalculated.

In reality, it's probably been less than a month.  But reality doesn't
visit here very often.

Google Cache also *feels* woefully out-of-date.  My PR5 homepage is cached
from 22 February, but many other pages are cached from 11 February.

Perception is not reality.  :)
