Google Pads Search Lead, Again

In April, Google continued to pull away from competitors Yahoo and
Microsoft in terms of how often people use its search
engine, according to new research from ComScore Networks.

ComScore reported May 22 that some 43.1 percent of all Internet
searches in April went through one of Google's search engines. That
means Google's share of the Internet search market rose by7 percentage
points compared to what it was in April 2005.

Meanwhile, in April the other top search engines each lost market
share, ComScore said, presumably to Google.

No. 2 Internet search provider Yahoo's share of Internet search fell
from 30 percent in April 2005 to 28 percent in April 2006.

Microsoft MSN Search share dropped 4 percentage points to 12.9 percent
in April 2006. Meanwhile American Online sunk to 6.9 percent in April
2006, from 9 percent a year ago.

Google's also dominating when it comes to the number of searches it
hosts. Consider this: In April, Google's 1.9 billion total of search
queries was twice that of Yahoo, the No. 2 search engine, during the
same time period.

April 2006 was the ninth straight month, according to ComScore, that
Google's increased its market-leading share of Internet searches.

Lets face it, Google is by far better than all the insignificant
others. The only reason MSN is in this list, is that Microsoft is using
the only marketing technique they know - force.
The only reasons one may find himself searching MSN, is that either he
was tricked to searching when he used another MS product, or that he is
not too familiar with the internet, and was led to MSN by MS
conventional marketing.
The fact that Google is visited by people voluntarily says it all.
The only achilles heel I see in Google's future, is the fact that the
AdSense (sponsored links affiliate program) is used by many scam sites
(aka link farms) to generate revenue and polute the net.
Way to go Google, keep an eye on the AdSense plan.

totally agreed ^^

i personally love google and everything they gain at the expense of
others (microsoft/yahoo) just makes my day. i hate yahoo cos the search
sucks and microsoft doesnt deserve to dominate another field that they
will only do a half-assed job in. let's face it: google 0wns the search
engine and they rightfully deserve the success.

i also agree with the MSN/google adsense statements from "Google Fan"
above... google really needs to watch that ^^

I happen to like Microsoft and I'm also a fan of Google. Google scares
MS and for good reason. This war is good for consumers. This is one war
I would not want to see an end to.

Hardly surprising when every bugger with a web-site is constantly
checking their position on goole due to ever changing search results
thrown out.

*LOL* That's very true.

They must be counting it all based on query volume. Then come to consider
automated tools, which often are Google-centric and have been more heavily
used at times of instability.
