Thank you for all the excellent comments- especially RFGDXM.
So in the past, it took 4-6 weeks for Google to pick up and use changes.
With their new, more frequent, spidering I would guess that changes become
"live" a bit quicker... anyone have any feedback on this one?

After the old "freshbot" started crawling, they would often pick up changes
in a few days but the changes would usually not stick around very long and
no change in PR would take place as a result.
This new crawler appears to have better sticking power. When it gets a
change, it seems to stay put for a while.
