Re: Google bar and link:
I'm still trying to get my head around all the PR and SERPS stuff.
Can you confirm that the following is right?
1) PR has a major effect on SERPS, but I often see well ranked pages with
poor PR. So what else do I need to watch for ?
2) I understand that backlinks improve PR and that you only gain PR from
pages that have a certain level of PR themselves e.g. at least PR3. So do
all pages start with PR0 or is there something else involved?
3) Whilst Google visits my pages quite often the PR and backlinks only get
updated every few weeks or months. Hence if I arrange a link from a page
with a good PR then it may be months before my PR is improved. Also the PR
of the linking page is reduced a little by linking to me, hence trading
links may take a some iteration to sort out PR.
4) Following on from (3). I assume that a links page only connected to the
rest of the site by a link from say the site map is likely to have a low
PR. Particularly true if backlinks are to the home page. Hence the links
page will have little PR to spare and if it falls below the magic PR3 (or
what ever) it will not count.
I think that I am confused and must be wrong somewhere.
Can anyone set me straight please?
