good except it cannot find the file or i should say i cannot find it. Can i
find the file on the web page outside of the publisher on the net? And if i
can what does it look like and where do i go. The file is index.html on
the publisher, but the upload said it could not find it. What am i doing
wrong? Thanks David
The first step I would try is to verify that the index.html file has
actually reached your server. If you are using an ftp program to upload you
should be able to see the content of the directory and all the files you
have put there. If you have a completely new site it is possible that a
default index file is already there. If such a default file is called
index.htm then you may see this instead of your own written index.html page.
If your server is not set up properly, seek the advice of the sys admin.
Next step would be to try accessing the page via the web using something
http://126.96.36.199/index.html where the 188.8.131.52 is your server IP
address. If you don't have a dedicated IP address seek advice of the sys
admin who administers the server.
Third step: If you have a domain name you will need to access the domain
name registrar and point the domain name at your server; then people will be
able to access your site using the domain name.
Best regards, Eric.
