If I have a web page for XXXX YYYY and optimize the page for "xxxx
yyyy" I get lots of traffic for that term. My problem is that *many*
people misspell "xxxx yyyy" as one word: "xxxxyyyy". Should I build a
separate doorway web page for the misspelled term and then just have
all links on that misspelled page come to the normal web site? The
doorway page would have its own IP address.
Re: Doorway pages?
I believe if we do a bit of research, we will find that Inktomi still does
and will continue to use Keyword META data.
I have not proof yet, just a hunch. Since they will be the 500lb Gorilla
later this year when Yahoo replaces Google with their results, I would not
be so quick to count them out.
The tough thing about optimizing for Inktomi and their affiliates will be
that almost every Inktomi affiliate has a "tweak" to their algorithm. I
don't believe many of them will use "straight" Inktomi results. While most
of these affiliates are inconsequential when it comes to search engine
traffic...eventually, it c o u l d make a difference.
