 media center worked until after i had a cable modem installed. now when i
open it it's a black screen. holding down control alt delete will bring it up
but anytime i click anything it goes black again. Any ideas on what's causing
this and how to get it to stop.

 I believe that your cable splitter is not keeping the two connections
isolated from each other and that the cable modem connection is feeding some
of its data into your antenna connection.

When they/you installed the cable modem, did they/you install any software
with it? You don't need any additional software to get internet via the
cable modem, so if any other software was installed then, try uninstalling
it. Otherwise, try reinstalling the MCE drivers for your display adapter.
