Before you go to the effort of re-partioning your hard-drive you might
want to consider another option. You can designate which "drive"(partion)
you want Media Center to record content on very easily and therefore you
would not "waste" any drive space. Simply open the Media Center application,
right click on the window, click "settings", click "tv", click
"recorder", click "recorder storage" and then select the drive partitition
you wish media center to record on. All recorded content will show up in the
Media Center content list no matter where it is recorded. This is very
convenient since it allows you to add additional hard drives if you wish to
store a large number of recordings. I have close to 2 terabytes of recorded
shows (200+) to choose from on my Media Center pc. If you wish to save a
lot of content, you can also choose the quality of the recordings thru
settings.....lower quality allows you to save more content. I use "Better"
for most of my saved recordings but you can change the quality setting on a
particular show to whatever you wish. Live tv automatically plays back at
the "best setting" by default.
