Hi, I had my infra red remote for WMC unplugged from the usb port as I needed
the port temporarily for another device, during this time I had a couple of
updates downloaded and installed. When I plugged the remote back in I found
it would no longer work. I checked in the device manager for microsoft eHome
infrared Transceiver Device, or something similar, but it does not appear. I
have tried unplugging it, switching off computer, restarting and plugging it
back in to see if "found new hardware" kicks in, but nothing. I can use the
TV tuner by changing channel with the mouse, but it's a pain. Any one have
any suggestions? Thanks.

How about letting everyone else into the secret of how you fixed it in case
someone in the future
comes here looking for the answer?

Dollars to cents it is some variation of the solutions described in this
blog posting by Aaron Stebner...

Possible fixes for IR receiver or remote problems after installing Update
Rollup 2 for MCE 2005
