You have a number of security options for encryption and, in Windows server
2003, server authentication using TLS and server certificate. That gives
very good protection for passwords. If you use certificate authentication
and smart card, the security is as good as it gets.

All of the remote desktop traffic is encapsulated in the encrypted
packets...

The security that may be exposed is your domain/network password
policy...

Also, notice that you can control the strength of a few things
such as the encryption used in the policies for TS

Note that the port you need to open is still 3389 even though you are using
SSL...doh!
