Is your Exchange model going to be a FE/BE (Front end/back end model) or are you
intending to just publish an OWA server through a firewall?
If you are planning on a DMZ (I suggest it regardless of who's solution you
choose...) do you intend to use a simple single-layer DMZ with a three-prong
firewall (screened subnet) or a three layer DMZ with two firewalls creating a
truly segmented public/private/internal trust structure?

Conversation: Hardware Firewall VS ISA Server
Subject: Hardware Firewall VS ISA Server
I am looking at putting several servers in a rack in a datacenter. I obviously
want some sort of firewall solution, and I am wondering what opinions some of
you might have about the topic. I will need to serve out Exchange services
through the firewall, so I would either have to publish the Exchange server in
ISA or open up access to it in some sort of DMZ with a hardware firewall. What
experiences/suggestions do you have about one versus the other?
Thanks,
Jacob
