I am looking for a PocketPC which will allow raw IR access to its IR
port. The majority of handhelds support the IrDA protocol stack. This
does not work for me since I am on a project that needs to send and
receive raw bytes on the IR port.

The sales info is confusing. It seems as if "serial IR" feature is
what I want but some of the sites simply use the term to differentiate
between connection speeds (serial IR being slower than fast IR).

Can anyone help ?

I partly support IR using the serial interface. I have never tried
using Raw IR, so I'm not the best person to answer. But no one else
has, so:

I've been under the impression that _all_ Windows CE/Pocket PC devices
with IR support Raw IR. I just used google
(http://groups.google.com/advanced_group_search) to look up
raw ir
in microsoft.public.pocketpc.developer and got 93 hits. I took a quick
look and now think I was only sort of right (many/most, but perhaps
not all). I'm quite sure at least some of the threads will provide
useful info and leads.
