My compaq Presario V5305WM has 512mb pre-installed from the
manufacturer. I need to upgrade with an additional stick of 512mb. Here
is the laptop specs:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00783092&lc=en&cc=py&product=3231960&dlc=es

And here is the RAM I've specd out:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=ibm&lndocid=MIGR-53094

Do you think the ram will be compatible with the linked laptop? Thanks

Even if the answer is "yes", you need to consider asking more questions.
If this system supports dual channel memory (not sure if it does or
not), then you could get memory which is compatible with the computer,
but which is not dual channel compatible with the exiting memory. If
that happens, the memory and the computer will work ... with 1GB of
memory ... but you will lose the advantages of dual channel memory
operation (which can double the effective speed of the memory system).

IF that laptop supports dual channel memory, then you need to install
two memory modules that are architecturally identical to get the most
from the upgrade.

Barry,

I am not concerned with dual channel memory, I am only concerned about
price. Do you think the ram I linked would be functional without dual
channel? How can you tell? Thanks.
