I have an invalid producy key associated with my xp media center edition and
I'm not sure why. I have a valid key (from the OEM) and would like to change
it back to the original. I haven't been able to find a key changer tool for
XP media center. I'd rather not reinstall because I have two years worth of
downloads, added softwrae, peripherals, etc. Please advise.

MY COMPUTER WORKED FINE WITH XP PRO FOR AROUND 14 MONTHS AND THEN EVERYTHING
WENT WRONG . I KEPT GETTING MESSAGES THAT UPDATES WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND IT
WAS NOT A GENUINE COPY! THE HOLLOGRAM STICKER IS STILL ON THE TOWER FROM
WHEN I PURCHASED IT. SO I HAVE HAD TO FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE AND START AGAIN
- LOSE ALL MY WORK AND BUY A NEW SYSTEM FROM DELL. PROBLEM IS WE NEED THIS
OTHER COMPUTER UP AND RUNNING BUT I HAVE INSTALLED WINDOWS 98 AS THE BASE
COMPONENT AND WHEN I HAVE TRIED TO REINSTALL THE XP PRO IT IS STILL SAYING
INVALID. HAS ANYONE OUT THERE GOT ANY IDEAS HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM?

Have you called MS yet and explained your problem to them?

You need to clarify, are you trying to reinstall Pro on the same (Sony, I
assume) PC that it was on to begin with?

How did it get Win98 on it?

If you wiped the Sony XP Pro system and put 98 on it, you won't be able to
just upgrade it with the Sony discs. You probably have to run some Sony
restore program to get it back.
