hi,

I am having a problem with my ActiveSynch. In my case neither the
PocketPC says that it is connected, nor the activesync on the PC says
so.

When I connect the PocketPC to the PC via USB, the message that I get
on the PocketPC says "Connecting to 'USB".

I am guessing that once when I had my PocketPC connected, I had
restarted the PC. The USB port got configured by the Windows specific
USB drivers instead of ActiveSync. So now it does not recognize at all.

Do you know what I can do.

The user\ApplicationData\Microsoft\ActiveSync\Profiles folder on my PC
is empty.

Help will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,
Vishal

Hi Vishal,

Try doing the following:

1. Click Start, then click Run. Type the following:

devmgmt.msc

Click Ok. This should open up the device manager.

2. Connect your Pocket PC via USB and you should see
an entry at the bottom Windows CE USB Devices.

3. Right-click and uninstall the entry for the PPC.

4. Remove the device and reboot computer.

5. Perform a soft reset and connect the device.

Raj,

Thanks for the help.

I have not been able to get it working yet. After many tries...its
still the same situation.
When I connected the Pocket PC via USB, a new entry by the name Windows
CE USB Devices gets added to the bottom. This contains another sub
entry by the name "Compaq IPAQ USB Sync". Only this sub entry has the
option to Uninstall. So I tried that. It asks me to restart the
computer to complete the task.

I made sure the Pocket PC is not yet connected to the PC while it is
restarting. As soon as the PC comes up (windows desktop comes up),
ActiveSync reported that it could not recognize the device..etc.

Then I connected the PocketPC after a soft reset to the unit. As soon
as I connect the Pocket PC, the Windows CE USB Device entry reapprears
in the list. and ActiveSync is not able to detect the device anyways.

Then I updated my ActiveSync version also...with the same result
though.

Is there something I am missing? Do i need to produce a Hard reset.
Because I realized that the Pocket PC has stopped showing the message
"Connection to 'USB" these days when I connect it to the PC.

Hi,

Thanks Raj,

It started working after I enabled syncing option on the Pocket PC. I
had forgotten to do so after going through the steps as told by you.

Thanks again,
Vishal
