I've installed the latest version of Windows Desktop Search on two XP SP2
machines. On one it works fine, but on the other the preview pane only shows
source code (i.e. when I right-click and select "view source" I see the same
thing). It does this for all file types. Something to do with a security
setting, I would guess?

John,

Have you tried resetting all of your IE settings on the machine with the
problem? It actually sounds like the "mshtml:" protocol isn't working on
your machine. This protocol is used to render .mht files and is required for
the previews to function properly.

Try saving some random site as a "Web Archive, single file (*.mht)" from
within IE via the File->Save As... menu. Then see if the saved file displays
properly within IE. This is essentially what the preview pane does so if
IE's able to display the contents of the archive properly we should be
working.

Many thanks for the response, Steve. I imagined it would be something of that
nature, but MHT files are rendered fine in IE. I've also tried playing with
IE security settings and that hasn't helped. The mystery remains.
