Is there someway if I had a server on my home LAN with just dynamic ip
(cable modem so ip would not change that often, maybe once a month i would
guess) to have it post its ip address to a webpage? (so eg. friends would
know the ip on any given day to access it)

Yes, I should have checked my router as well (which has that one in one of
the config options (it used to be my brother's router)).
