Source code editor and tools

I remember looking at a website that let you browse the source code of
PHPBB... it showed you a list of all variables and it would tell you
the file and line number each variable appeared. Did the same with
functions, constants, etc. Anyone have that link by chance? Or even
better, maybe knows the tool itself that compiled that useful little
list? I want it bad enough I would even write it myself in perl but I
really don't want to reinvent the wheel.

Also wondering what you think is the best editor for PHP code? I like
ultraedit, but it doesn't show me a list of all variables/functions the
way that DZsoft PHP editor does. But I also code in other languages so
opening multiple kinds of files in tabs inside one editor is also nice.
I've found some bugs in both programs though.

The Zeus for Windows IDE has support for PHP:
Note: Zeus is shareware (45 day trial).

It does PHP syntax highlighting, code folding and class

It is even possible to seamlessly integrate the PHP SDK
API reference manual into the Zeus Quick Help feature:

Zeus can handle almost any programming language:

I am new to PHP but not to programming. I normally use Eclipse and
Netbeans for my programming. Last week I set out to find a nice FREE
php-ide.  For  me it came down to either:

  - PHP DESIGNER 2006 Beta,
  - Dev php,
  - PHPEclipse,

Since it would make sense to use it. It requires too many plugins. I am
running 3.2 of Eclipse and all the required plugins are at 3.1.

I picked PHP DESIGNER. It's not bad and it was written by a 20 year old.
I am impressed.

Thanks in Advance...
