I have problems getting my php webpage to connect to a remote mysql

I can connect using the same name and password from the command prompt
using mysql.  I also have my own sql database on this computer that
the php website can access.

Any ideas please.

and what firewalls stand between "you" and the "remote" system?  Is it on your
LAN or at an ISP?  Also one of the fields that must be satisfied  in the user
identification is the "host" field in the user table.

SELECT user, password,host from user;
myname  mypwd  localhost
othern  otherp systemb

I am on systema and connect using myname/mypwd - this works.
from another system I connect using myname/mypwd - security says "not from
anything but localhost".

grant all on *.* to 'myname'@'systemb' identified by 'password';
update user set host = '%' where user = 'myname';
!! BTW, this is not real smart especially if someone sniffs out the
username/password ,they can have access to the db.
